I'd love to. Which is why I've kicked myself for not purchasing a laptop with a good battery life. Though I shouldn't be too hard on myself--I really didn't expect to write anywhere but in the comfort of my home back then. Yet in that constant comfort zone, I sometimes feel like I'm on mental autopilot, which isn't conducive to writing. No surprise that I write better when summer comes around and I take my laptop to a shady spot in the garden. But again, can't stay unconnected for long.
A change of environment provides new stimuli for the brain, of course. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those authors who can travel often and write. If I weren't restricted by the limits of my computer, I'd write in just about any comfortable, peaceful outdoor place or even a coffee shop. I admit I feel a surge of envy whenever I see a group of people tapping away at their keyboards in those shops. I assume there are places that allow you to bring your cable, though I haven't done a serious search for those. Libraries? Honestly, they make me restless.
So I'm curious about other authors. Are you house-bound or are you able to write wherever you like? And if you're lucky enough to fall into the second category, where do you write? Or, perhaps, the haven of your home suits you just fine. :-)

I love a change of pace. I have a front porch and have furniture there. I used to hit the library when I was doing research and would end up writing a bit. Or go sit on the town square on a bench.
Change of pace give fresh mind.
Hi Deborah, any little change certainly gives a fresh mind. Good thing I could work out on my balcony...if only for an hour. Thanks for dropping by!
I'm not a writer, but I dabble amateurly. Like yours, Evie, my laptop doesn't have much battery life so i can only take it out to the balcony for a little over an hour. A new battery is too expensive and not worth it since my computer's five years old. So I'll just wait it out till it's time for a new one.
:-)
Yes, I think it's a great idea. I get much more accomplished when I'm concentrating against extraneous noise. I love my laptop. It's my best friend....
Hi Sammy, yes, computer batteries are pricey, so it makes sense to wait to buy a new computer--and make sure you order one with a long battery life!
Thanks for sharing. :-)
Hi Julie, yep, natural noise stimulates the muse.
Thanks for dropping by. :-)
I don't take my computer because I like to write in long hand then transfer it to the computer later. I like to write in the public library, at the picnic table in the park, my favorite neighborhood restaurant that stays open until 4 AM.
A very lovely blog, Evie.
Hi Sarah, bless you for having the patience to do long hand and type it later. It gives you the freedom to write just about anywhere. Writing in a restaurant is a great idea...and you can take your time eating if it's not busy. ;-)
Thank you for your kind words and wishing you great writing!
